Men's Premier League WIN!

DAWNING OF A NEW ERA

Our senior men’s Premier League side celebrated arguably its best result since re-entering the National Premier League competition, with an emphatic 4-1 victory over current league champions Belconnen Blue Devils. Obviously one result doesn’t make a season but this win, the third this year, is especially significant considering the quality of the opposition. Belconnen looking ominous after a slow start to season have recently defeated both Canberra FC and Cooma as they built a string of results to see them sitting in the top four.

The result is not a short term turn around in fortunes following three straight losses after wins again Woden and Tuggeranong. The result and the performance is a culmination of months of hard work, investing in young up and coming footballers and reinvesting in players retained by the club from 2012.  The next task for the coaches Njegosh Popovich and Frank Cachia is now to find consistency and repeat that level of performance week in week out.

Notably the investment made by the club in our Premier League program is not restricted to our senior men’s side. Our senior coaches such as Njegosh who works with our 16s and Frank with our 12s program demonstrates the holistic approach the club has taken under the direction of Popovich.  With highly decorated coach Lino Fiorese looking after our 14s program and our women's program going from strength to strength, the dawning of a new era at the club is one major step closer to becoming reality.
