To all coaches and parents of Monaro Football Club

In recent weeks there have been a small number of incidents involving sideline abuse of referees from both coaches and parents in both Rooball and competitive games. All coaches and parents are reminded that this is unacceptable behaviour and is contributing to the difficulty the club is having in attracting and retaining a sufficient number of referees. Vigorous or abusive challenging of referee decisions from the sideline sets a poor example to young players and only encourages them to feel ‘hard done by’, and to challenge the authority of the referee themselves. It is against the spirit of fair play to which the club and Capital Football are committed, is poor sportsmanship, and detracts from the player’s enjoyment of the game. Coaches and parents are hereby advised that the Monaro Football Club may without warning suspend from attending games for a period of time any coach or parent observed or reported abusing, or excessively and unreasonably challenging, a referee.

Canteen

Monaro Panthers run a canteen every Saturday.  We have a great range of hot food available such as pies, sausage rolls, hot dogs, sausage sizzle and our most popular egg and bacon rolls, just the thing on a cold winter's morning.  We also stock the usual fair of chips, lollies, chocolate bars, soft drinks and tea and coffee.  The canteen operates from 8.30 in the morning and generally runs through to the last game of the day.  Parents are required to come and work in the canteen, a roster is drawn up at the beginning of the season and can involve either operating the canteen or our bbq.  We greatly appreciate the help of our volunteer parents, it's a great way of meeting new friends or just becoming familiar with the parents in your childs team. The kids also love having you there (a bit like school) it makes them feel special and more involved with our wonderful club.  We also sell our club merchandise through the canteen, so feel free to come and have a look at our tracksuits, polar fleece jumpers and socks.  We look forward to seeing you there as the new season begins and seeing the familiar faces as well as the new.
